We are what we eat!
We know that a healthy mind requires a healthy body – and that growing children need plenty of nutrition! Both our sites have been awarded five stars for their food hygiene standards and we work hard to provide your children with delicious, nutritious and carefully prepared foods. All meals and snacks are prepared fresh every day.
Children attending Creative Explorers, will experience a variety of healthy balanced and nutritious foods. The quality of foods served in our nursery is such that we believe it will give them all of the energy they need for a busy day of play, learning and development.
Menus are carefully planned and freshly prepared on site by our chef. Menus are displayed in our nursery and on our website and we work closely with parents if there is a specific dietary requirement to their child.
A typical day at Creative Explorers starts off with breakfast followed by a mid morning healthy snack. A healthy, home-made two course lunch follows around mid day, some days we have a starter and main meal and other days we have a main meal and dessert and just before tea time another healthy snack with a cup of milk or juice is offered.
Tea time is around 4pm where the children experience another healthy meal. Creative Explorers makes every effort to make meal times fun and an opportunity to learn. Meals are served family style, so that children can experience the social aspects of meal times, setting the table, talking about the foods they are about to eat and then clearing away after themselves.
We believe in educating children about food to encourage them to make healthy choices.
Healthy Early Years London (HEYL) is an awards scheme funded by the Mayor of London which supports and recognises achievements in child health, wellbeing and development in early years settings.
Building on the success of Healthy Schools London, HEYL will help to reduce health inequalities by supporting a healthy start to life across themes that include healthy eating, oral and physical health and early cognitive development.
HEYL complements and enhances the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, adding to the focus on children, families and staff health and wellbeing.
The 4 levels of Awards (HEYL First Steps, Bronze, Silver and Gold) can be used to improve and support practice in all Early Years settings. Creative Explorers is proud to have started on this journey already and we hope to make our way up to Gold in the near future.
