Children can feel the freedom of being outdoors in the fresh air, exploring the natural treasures that are constantly changing throughout the seasons.
Creative Explorers recognise the benefits of the children being outdoor for sustained periods of time to allow children to learn whilst developing their physical and mental health. We provide daily opportunities to play outdoors for all our children come rain or shine.
Teaching children outdoors encourages curiosity and stimulates all the senses in a way that indoor learning simply cannot do.
By participating through engagement, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a outdoor environment children are encouraged to develop their confidence, social skills and communication.
Babies and Toddlers – While our site does not offer its own outdoor facility, we are still keen explorers and utilise our local environment and community as much as possible.
Our babies and toddlers go on daily adventures to; the local onsite community playground; greenspace at St. Mary’s Church; Priory Park; in addition to visiting sites like the train station, post office and local Sainsburys. We believe that these ‘excursions’ give children a broader glimpse into the outside environment while also developing their awareness skills, the importance of safety and the experience of varying terrain en route.
We also have our own 6-seater Turtle Bus for the younger ones.
Preschool.- We have an extensive garden/ outdoor environment where children are able to socialise with their peers. Outdoor play is a key factor at Creative Explorers, so children have free-flow play throughout the day, and we value that sustained periods of play in a rich and stimulating outdoor environment offer a wide range of benefits for babies, toddlers and young children.
Learning outside supports the development of healthy and active lifestyles by offering children opportunities for physical activity, freedom and movement, and promoting a sense of well-being. It gives them contact with the natural world and offers them experiences that are unique to outdoors, such as direct contact with the weather and the seasons.
Outdoor play also supports children’s all-round development such as problem-solving skills and nurtures their creativity, as well as providing rich opportunities for their developing imagination, inventiveness and resourcefulness.
We also take the children on excursions and trips, recent trips (pre-covid) have included a farm, Chinatown and a garden centre.
Our spacious outdoor environment is on offer every day and regardless of the weather as we value that the environment is the third teacher we value the benefits of children exploring all the elements, embracing each season such as observing the leaves changing, shadows from the sun, frost for the first time or plants starting to grow. We even use recycled/ reclaimed loose parts and materials to develop children’s curiosity, awe and wonder.
